The next-gen iPhone will use a brand new display technology that will make the iPhone 5's display thinner. Information about this has appeared before, but now finally it has been confirmed by WCJ.
The technology that will use Apple, lets you integrate capacitive touch sensors directly to the LCD module, eliminating the need for a separate layer of the touch screen.

Japanese liquid-crystal-display makers Sharp Corp. and Japan Display —a new company that combined three Japanese electronics makers’ display units—as well as South Korea’s LG Display Co. are currently mass producing panels for the next iPhone using so-called in-cell technology, the people said.”
